At Cairn & Cove, delivering trusted, reliable and relevant information is the foundation of our entire brand. Behind each and every piece of content we deliver, whether that’s a written article, video or social media post, is an extensive process of research, fact-checking and clarification. We strive to ensure that any information we include is factually correct and we will never make a claim or opinion that isn’t substantiated.
Our primary focus is on travel inspiration, rather than on our own opinions and experiences, which means we may cover destinations, hotels or experiences that we haven’t been to or taken part in. However, you should realise from the subject matter, that we will use information gained from primary sources, such as a hotel brand, tourism board or similar, rather than general consensus or plagiarised content from travel creators.
We are open and honest about where we have and haven’t been, with a ‘suggestive’ rather than ‘authoritative’ tone. Just think of us as extremely well-read travel agents, without the element of sales.
Accuracy and Corrections
We strive to be 100% accurate with any information we provide. If you discover an error, mistake or factually incorrect piece of information, please contact us and we will endeavour to change it as soon as possible.
Fact Checking
Every single piece of content we create is fact checked against at least one reputable source, but usually several. Each of our articles is reviewed and edited by both the original writer and an editor. We constantly review and update our content to remove false or outdated information and ensure that what has been written in the past is still relevant to our readers.
Opinions and Personal Experiences
Our content is designed to be fact-led and more about giving our readers enough information to generate their own opinions, or match their needs and requirements. Where an opinion or view is given, we will always ensure that it is clear that the writer is giving their own, rather than stating opinions as facts. We review all content to ensure opinions are aligned with our values and mission statement.
Independence and Impartiality
Although we always aim to review or cover in a positive light, we do not accept payment, services or gifts in exchange for positive coverage. We are travel journalists first, so we will be completely open and honest when it comes to general consensus, safety or other factual details about places, products, services, people or anything else we write about.
We participate in press trips and product reviews, but we continue to offer an impartial, balanced and honest overview of what we experience, focusing on facts and insights over opinions.
Diverse Sources
We will only ever reference or use qualified, reputable information sources to supplement or clarify our writing, and we always aim to use more than one source. We try to choose a diverse selection of sources too, from a global pool of information outlets and a vast array of viewpoints.
Originality
Every piece of content generated by Cairn & Cove teams is 100% unique and written from scratch, unless clearly stated. We do not repurpose content from elsewhere, or publish content that appears in several places at once. Written content follows our internal writing style and stands out from other travel information providers. We also refrain from using AI to generate content – please see our AI policy for more information.
Ethics
We take a critical and factual overview when it comes to including places, people or services. We take an unbiased view that encompasses all cultures and beliefs. However, if we find that a product, service, location or person isn’t aligned with our ethics and ethos, we may choose not to provide coverage across the Cairn & Cove portfolio.
